I am so happy to see those (mostly) smiling faces again! And we have quite a few new faces this year in choir -- welcome!
We have an exciting year planned, with the Madrigal Feaste this fall, singing at Homecoming, the Pops Concert in January, the musical in March, another concert in April, and Kings Island and graduation in May. And don't forget Veteran's Day in November and Honors Choir.

We have an exciting year planned, with the Madrigal Feaste this fall, singing at Homecoming, the Pops Concert in January, the musical in March, another concert in April, and Kings Island and graduation in May. And don't forget Veteran's Day in November and Honors Choir.
A few things as we get started:
- This year's Madrigal Feaste is "Fools Fall in Love" and we are doing one performance only on Friday, November 22 starting at 6 pm. This is another hilarious show. You can read a synopsis of the play at http://www.madrigaldinner.com/scripts/1493-fools-fall-in-love/. Be sure to also watch the super-funny clip from the show at http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=yML2CqlMhKg.
- Auditions for speaking parts will be held on Thursday, September 5 from 3 pm to 4:30 pm. We will be reading through the script in class, which you should bring to the audition. We will all sit together in the Choir Room and take turns reading, so plan to stay the entire hour and a half so that you can read with more than one person. If you are auditioning for Harmonia, Discordio or Out-of-Tunio, you will need to sing the solo part for that character at the singing auditions which will be held immediately after the speaking auditions from 4:30-5:30 pm in the Choir Room. The music is in the back of the script, and you can watch the video to learn each part.
- Honors Choir students will be selected in September. Wright State participants will be selected from the Show Choir; OMEA is open for any choral student (6-12) to audition. Auditions will be held sometime in September, dates TBD.
- We will be starting a new after-school group this year, called PURE GOLD. This will be a Pop A Capella group that will focus on arranging and singing today's popular hits. Auditions will be announced next week, and will take place in mid- to late-September.
- The Choral Walk-Throughs are scheduled for Thursday, September 12 from 6-8 pm and Saturday, September 14 from 10 am to 2 pm. All students should attend with a parent to pay fees, sign up to volunteer, be measured for costumes and speak with Ms. Snyder about this year's expectations and requirements.
Over the next week, I will be posting more information about upcoming auditions, a copy of the Walk-Through document and the updated Choral Handbook. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to call or email me if you have questions.
We will be talking about a lot more over the next few weeks, but know that this will be another great year, and I am really looking forward to making beautiful music together!
Love and music,
Ms. Snyder
